Vss Story Time Week 1
This month I am using the hashtag for writing a story. Each blog will contain a week’s worth of prompts (in bold). I have no idea where these prompts will take us, I guess we’ll figure it out together.
She tried to snap the lid on the can, but her hand slipped, and the lid flipped. It began it’s tumble towards the ground. Surprisingly she caught it in mid air. She was still staring at the lid in her hand when she clearly heard, “That was dope.”
Her eyes widened in fear. She knew she was alone. Her gaze darted to her four-legged audience. Ignoring the disembodied voice, she finished capping the can, and proceeded to feed the pets their lunch. She could feel eyes watching her every move.
Every time she looked over her shoulder, nothing was there. Nervously she finished placing the food bowls for her four-legged friends, before escaping outside. Hoping to leave the feeling of being watched behind.
As she stood in the backyard enjoying the sights and sounds of nature, she was suddenly enveloped in an unbreakable hug. She twisted and wiggled in the hold, but to no avail.
She finally looked down but couldn’t see anything holding her in place. “Is this a dream?” She blurted out. Her words disappeared into the silence surrounding her.
The cold bitter wind buffeted her body, and a loud thump echoed from behind her. She felt the invisible bonds loosening. Once she could move she rushed to the door and hurried back inside. Her furry four-legged friend whined anxiously.
She gathered the ball of fluff into her arms, and began pacing the room. “I don’t know about you Toby, but I believe this house is haunted.”
