Vss Story Time Week 2

Updated: Mar 1, 2021

This blog is a continuation of Vss Story Week 1. Last week we left our character cuddling her pup, and believing her house was haunted. Read Week 1.

She eventually put the dog down and headed toward her office. When she entered the room, the smells of paper and ink comforted her. The sight of her beloved books marching along her bookshelves calmed her anxiety, all of her friends were right here.

The ball of fluff followed close on her heels. While surveying her office to decide what to do first, she heard a loud thump from the other room. “Must be the cat,” she thought to herself. She almost jumped out of her skin, as the cat rubbed up against her leg.

“Ok, not the cat then.” Her heart began to pound. She poked her head into the hall. An unusual light radiated from the dining room. It drew her forward. Light blinded her when she stepped into the room. Sunshine was pouring out of her fireplace.

She felt an unseen force pulling her forward. The light grew brighter. She screwed her eyes shut. The area around her exploded in a blaze of light. When she opened her eyes again, she was floating on a river of golden sunlight. Her house was nowhere to be seen.

Cloudy banks hugged the river as she floated along. Above her stars filled the sky. She tried to reach one of the banks, but the pull of the golden river drew her forward. “This was a big mistake.” She muttered as the river sped on to its destination.

As she floated around a corner a grand vista opened up in front of her. The river led directly to a large, white, marble building with gilded columns, surrounded by cloudy hillocks. There was a figure standing on the steps of the building, waiting for her.

When she neared the steps, the man reached down to help her out of the river.

“Thank you,” she said politely.

“Madame Stephanie, you have finally arrived. Come, it is time.” He sounded relieved.

“Time for what? I don’t understand. Where am I? How do you know my name? What is going on?”

“This is the temple of Glennconn. We have been awaiting your arrival for a very long time. You have been brought here to help the lost find their way.”

I hope you enjoyed the second installment of this month’s blog series. See you next week.
