The Shrine of the Fathers

By Rita Serra

In this time traveling novel, the author seamlessly merges future, past, and present. When Alessandro Pellegrino is faced with a terrorist in 2030 that can change his appearance at will, he learns a truth that will change his life. Forever.
Unable to complete his mission, the soldier returns to his superiors and is informed of the drastic consequences of his action. Because of his failure that day, the terrorist will be able to implement his dream of world domination. The time of “The Dragon” is upon the world once again.
Only one individual is able to stop the Dragon. He is known to history as “The Pilgrim.” Soldier Pellegrino thinks his new assignment is to find and recruit the Pilgrim to their cause. Little does he know, the Pilgrim has already been recruited.
The Pilgrim and Alessandro Pellegrino are one and the same. Found and recruited by General Porzio a decade ago, Alessandro Pellegrino has become a highly decorated soldier in the Italian Special Forces. Now he will use his extensive training to outwit the Dragon throughout time.
Quickly outsmarting the Germans working for the Dragon during WWII, the Pilgrim manages to prevent the Dragon from dominating the world, this time. But, the Dragon still slipped away to establish his vision in another time.
Still unsure of exactly how the Pilgrim is supposed to stop the Dragon, Pellegrino recovers an ancient manuscript, written by other time travelers, and saved to assist the Pilgrim in his quest.
Will this ancient document have the key Pellegrino needs to stop the Dragon and save the world? Or will the Dragon slip through his fingers once again? Can the dragon be stopped?
The historical scenes are highly detailed with meticulous precision. The reader feels for the characters in both the past, present and future. This time traveling novel pulls us into the struggle between good and evil. Is it possible for good to truly win? Can some evil be good? Can some good be evil?
