Stephanie has finally been prepared to help the lost souls that gather at the Temple Glennconn. Catch up with week 1, week 2, and week 3 here.
Stephanie followed the man back to the front of the temple. When they reached the entrance, the caretaker led her to an enormous audience chamber. Walking toward the throne in the center of the room, Stephanie could feel her tendons stretching from the unusual exercise.
The throne was surrounded by ghostly, almost see through figures. The caretaker walked directly into the amassed figures surrounding the throne. Stephanie took a deep breath before taking the plunge. The faded beings felt cold to her living flesh
As Stephanie made her way through the ghostly throng, she cowered away from their chilly touch. Finally reaching the throne, she took her place in the chair, and cradled the huge yellow gem in her lap.
The caretaker motioned to the first lost soul. The ghostly figure floated forward, and put their hand into the jewel. Stephanie watched in amazement as images flashed on the surface of the gem. Scratches appeared on the top facet. Stephanie tilted the gem to read the advice.
“Don’t dart across the street without looking both ways.” Stephanie read aloud. Her face was a mask of confusion as she watched the ghostly figure fade from her sight. The next one glided forward for their turn.
For hours Stephanie sat on the throne, watching the lives of the lost souls on the gem facets and dispensing the odd advice. When the caretaker called a halt for the day, the figures dispersed. Stephanie rose to leave, and her legs folded beneath her.
She crashed to the ground. The gem flew from her hand and glittered as it shattered on the marble floor. The caretaker rushed to her side and lifted Stephanie to her feet, dusting off her gown as he helped her to stand.
Stephanie felt horrible. She couldn’t believe she broke the magical gem. The blood drained from her face as she observed the caretaker while he rotated to survey the damage. Rather than being punished as she feared, the caretaker silently escorted her back to her room

This story got weird. We may revisit Stephanie eventually, but for now this is the end of Stephanie’s adventures in the Temple.
