May Blog Love Poems

First off I would like to apologize for the lateness of my blog post. My daughter graduated from high school this past weekend, and the trip really threw my schedule off. These poems are about Love. Most of them have been written with my husband in mind.

Faith

There are people

In this life

That pray for strength

During strife

They are the ones

Who have adoration

For something greater

Than their station

Their belief in

A Higher Power

Lifts them up

When things are dour

I wish I had

Faith like that

I tend to study

And pick at

Everything that

Crosses my path

Treating it all

Like higher math

I like to find

The reasons why

It helps me

To demystify

The shadows surrounding

My own faith

And assists me

When I try to debate

Both sides of the issue

On my own

The trouble is knowing

The unknown

For God is something

We cannot see

But we know they are

Here for you and me

This is faith

In a nutshell

Anger and fear

It does dispel

I just hope

It makes you think

I wouldn’t want you

To be hoodwinked

By the charlatans

That prey on the unwary

People like that

Are very scary

I am not trying to influence anyone’s choice of religion, My husband and I are Christians trying to show Christ’s love in our everyday actions, and these poems help express that.

Honeymoon

For our honeymoon we

Went to the Canandian Territory

And visited The Madame

Tussad’s Wax Gallery

Some of the waxwork

Figures looked so real

Though there were some

That soured the deal

We stopped at Ripley’s

And Guiness on the way

All those amazing things

Really made our day

Through our whole trip

To Niagara Falls

Happiness is all

I can recall

We rode on

The Maid of the Mist

At the base of

The Bridal Falls we kissed

The tour involved a lot

Of walking around

But all in all

I’m still spellbound

Water crashing

On the rocks

Rainbows arching

O’er the docks

Famous people

With waxy mien

All working to

Set the scene

For a romantic

Get away

From the pressures

Of the day

As honeymoons go

It was the best

In our photos

Love is expressed

This poetic description of our honeymoon really captures the Niagara Falls experience for me. Writing this one was almost like reliving our adventure.

Live for You

Come into my arms

If you’re all alone

I will be there

No need to moan

I will listen

To your troubles

Without judgement

I know it’s a struggle

Life is hard

When you have no release

I know how it feels

To want the whole thing to cease

I will help you find

Anything to live for

I know you have something

That will restore

Your zest for life

We can open that door

Let me help you

I’m not a bore

I do not judge

I only care

I want to see

What you have to share

Dig deep

Look inside

When I’m around

Love is amplified

I know how it feels

To lose someone you love

I don’t want it to happen

To your beloved

People will miss you

If you go away

Our hearts will be broken

Our days always gray

Don’t leave us alone

Please, please, stay

A few of my close friends were having a really rough month when I wrote this. Things are looking up for them now. At the time, I was worried I was going to lose them, this poem expresses how I felt about that.

Wedding Day

My favorite gown

Is white and long

Wearing this one

Made me feel strong

With a corset top

And long flowing train

It’s the one I wore

When marrying again

My bridal gown

Brings me joy

Our day was full

Of hoi-polloi

We had a luau

As our reception

And of course

All the attention

Celebrating

With everyone

Was the best

We had so much fun

Now we have

Our own place

It’s relaxing

With lots of space

Our family finds

Comfort here

And a place

To talk without fear

For we do not

Judge in this house

No judging our friends

Or our spouse

Everyone has

A right to their feelings

They shouldn’t have

To explain their dealings

We have found out that open communication, not saying “Sorry”, and holding no judgement for another’s actions/thoughts/feelings has really helped out our relationship. We are able to look at issues with open minds, and no rancor. We can really open up to each other. This past year of forced isolation, has been the best thing for us. Below is one of our wedding photos
